Music is the brush I use to paint the colors of my day.
My relationship with music started as a kid playing piano, clarinet and singing in choirs. As a teenager playing bass in punk and hardcore bands in and around the greater DC area were my passion. My love of playing bass led me off to college where I earned multiple degrees in jazz performance from Northern Virginia Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts.
Over the years my palette has grown- from those early punk roots to playing jazz, gospel, folk, Americana, country music and everything in between. I have performed in tight-knit quartets, swinging big bands, on large-scale country tours and at intimate weddings and upscale corporate events. My journey has included big studio music video shoots, jazz and folk festivals, US State department culture exchanges tours and recording sessions for artists across the globe.
I’ve been fortunate to live between the electric pulse of New York City and the neon glow of Nashville, with touring taking me through bluegrass country, the gray mists of Western Europe, and the vibrant tropics of Southeast Asia. Highlights include winning the Nashville Industry Music Award for Best Jazz Instrumentalist in 2018, supporting legends like Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and LeAnn Womack on stage and screen, collaborating with Postmodern Jukebox on unforgettable videos, and the mind-opening experiences of seeing the world through music.
